Re: Salinity and Tide

Hi Olgay, 1) can you post your discharge file to check why this is happening? Layer K = 1 in MOHID is the bottom layer and k = 5 (if you have 5 layers) it the top one. 2) the reference water level is the water level reference value of your model domain. It can be the mean sea level for the nearest r...

Re: Doubt as to the nesting domain and SPONGE and FLATHER

Hi, 1) In the vertical direction, increase 20-30% of the resolution for each nesting. 2) No, only do this when downscaling from a global circulation model solution. For MOHID to MOHID nesting you don't need this. 3) No, don't use this in HOTSTART simulations, because it a MOHID to MOHID nesting. 4) ...

Re: Salinity variation for 2D model

Hi Lilian, Several things may influence your results. Depending on the exact characteristics of your model: 1) the river flow does not have the correct values or it's values do not have the needed update frequency. What's the average river flow? 2) the grid resolution in the upper estuary is insuffi...

Re: Run Time

Hi Sergio,

How big are the output files (hdf5 and/or time series files)?
Are you doing a Lagrangian simulation where the number of particles released in the model domain increases with time?

Best regards,
Luis

Re: Using a simple model to calibrate water quality??

Hi Tomas, The PAPA station test case is useful in open ocean applications, but with some work it can suit your intentions. Did you change the meteorological forcing to suit your case study? Can you be a bit more specific in the type of application you're doing? Estuary? coastal area? River? Lake? Be...

Hi Clef,

Most likely there's something wrong with your GOTM file. I'll send you a standard file by e-mail.

Re: consideration of ice layer

Hi Michael,

Welcome back :)

No ice layer in MOHID yet, sorry. It would be nice to add this feature in MOHID though. I'm available to collaborate with you on the development of this feature, if you're interested.

Best regards,
Luis

Re: Modeling of Drag due to Marsh Grasses

Hi,

You can do this indirectly only, by defining a spatially variable rugosity coefficient in the InterfaceSedimentWater.

<begin_rugosity>
INITIALIZATION_METHOD : ASCII_FILE
FILENAME : Rugosity.dat
<end_rugosity>

Luis

Re: Mohid Statistics analyser

Hi Ane, MOHID Time Series Editor and the Statistics Analyser use the standard MOHID Time Series format ( http://www.mohid.com/wiki/index.php?title=Time_Series ) in ASCII. MOHID Water and MOHID Land also use this format. However in MOHID Studio you can work with XLS, XML and MOHID format. You must ex...

Hi,

can you be more detailed? what type of application? tide, wind, discharges? Maybe you can post the input data files... What's the time step (DT) you're using?

Best regards,
Luis

Re: ConvertToHDF5 problem

Dear Furqon,

This error ID does not exist anymore in the ConvertToHDF5 program. Please update to the last version.

Also, make sure you define the option :

CONVERT_TO_ASCII : 0

when converting the ERA40 files, otherwise the program will not work.

Best regards,
Luis

Re: Discharge flow distribution

Hi Paula, The FLOW_DISTRIBUTION keyword is defined in the Discharges input data file only. It is meant to allow the definition of different types of flow distribution when the discharge in made along a line or within a polygon. The available options are: FLOW_DISTRIBUTION : by cell FLOW_DISTRIBUTION...

Re: HDF Problem

Hi Renan, Yes, most likely it's because the file is too big. Try loading less information (less time steps, or reduce the area to be plotted in the ROI menu). Additionally you can also reduce the size of the file (spatially and/or temporally) using the HDFExtractor tool. Check MOHID Wiki for more in...

Re: Mesh Size

Hi Cécile,

This is currently under development in MOHID Studio, so expect this feature soon.
Meanwhile, you can use the old MOHID GIS, menu Action -> Measure Distance.

Hope it helps,
Luis
