MOHID Watre Wave refraction module

Postby robson.sarmento@terra.com.br » Thu Nov 26, 2009 09:49

Dear Luis,
My compliments.
Having in mind it is first time using the Module Waves, I would appreciate
if you may send me this module just for wave refraction with wind.
I looked at Wiki and the forum and they were not of much help.
Sorry in taking your time.
My best regards and thankings
Robson Sarmento

Hi Robson,

Sorry for the late answer.
ModuleWaves in MOHID does not compute wave parameters explicit. This module (apart for fetch-limited applications where it can compute the wave generation) works mainly as a way of reading the results of waves models (e.g. SWAN, STWAVE, etc) and impose their results in MOHID, to be used in hydrodynamics (using the radiation stresses) and sediment transport (computing bottom shear stress based on wave orbital velocities).
Hope this helps,
Luis

Hi Luis,

I would like to know if I can impose waves with a given height, period and direction in the boundary of my grid. My area is a coastal zone, on the east of Spain, so I have the mediterranean sea on the right until 22 meters deep.
I am trying to figure out how wave direction affects a salinity plume form the discharge of a desalination plant, and I am not able to input the waves.
Thank you for your help.

Alvaro.
