SIGMA coordinates for 3D simulation

Postby apalao@proes.es » Wed Dec 02, 2009 13:50

Dear Mohiders,

I have a doubt about the definition (keywords) in the Geometry module of a SIGMA type water domain.

I guess that the keyword TYPE is to be defined as SIGMA (obvious, isn't it?), but then, the keyword LAYERTHICKNESS is really needed or is enough with the definition of the number of layers?

I supossed that SIGMA vertical domain is defined with a constant number of layers whose thickness is computed as a function of the local depth. Am I right?

Thank you for your help!! :D

SIGMA coordinates for 3D simulation

Dear Mohiders,
I've got it!!
Now I know that the layerthickness should be given as %, so we define the thickness of each layer as a portion of the local depth (values from 0 to 1).

Great Angela!

As you can see using Mohid is not that difficult ;) You can find more info about this subject in the Mohid Wiki
