Tide Potential

Hi,
I would like to know which are the terms added to the balance equations when Tide Potential is set to 1 in the Hydrodynamic.dat file cause nothing is said in the Hydrodynamic or MOHID manual about it.

First is compute kind of virtual water level field that we call TidePotentialLevel matrix

See subroutine ModifyTidePotential in the ModuleHydrodynamic.f90. I have program two method (Kantha and Clayson, 2000 book and Lefévre, 2001 – PhD thesis)


The gradients of this field multiply by the gravity give the acceleration associated with the astronomic forces effect.

!Aceleration due the tide potential

TidePotentialAceleration = - Gravity * (TidePotentialLevel(iSouth, jWest) - &
TidePotentialLevel(I, J)) / &
DZX_ZY(iSouth, jWest)

TidePotentialAceleration X = - g * d (TidePotentialLevel) / dX

TidePotentialAceleration Y = - g * d (TidePotentialLevel) / dY

TidePotentialAceleration (X,Y) is an aceleration add explicity to the momenutm balance equations.
