sw_ext_coef and SW_KW without effect

Postby m.rudlof@gmx.de » Tue Nov 30, 2010 08:32

Hi,
it is quiet here any time recently. What is wrong? :) Ahh... I think the MOHID STUDIO costs all power?

Nevertheless a question:

In my model I have chl_a and cohesive sediments, I use the property LIGHT EXTINCTION TYPE : 4
I can`t notice any impact of the vertical temperatur profile by changing SW_KW or SW_EXT_COEF. It doesn't matter whether I impose 0.05 or 0.8.
Is this normal????

I realy hope somebody has a hint.
Thank you
Michael

hi,

SW_KW is the short wave extinction coefficient of water ( = water with no particles in it), and is used in the multiparametric formulation of the calculation of short wave extinction coefficient, where the short wave extinction coefficient (KZ) is the sum of SW_KW plus the concentration of the property influencing the light penetration (C) times the specific short wave extinction parameter of that property (KP).

KZ = SW_KW + C*KP

Cheers,

Luis
