Time Series

Hi,

I have a problem with the time series : I just tick the time_serie in the hydrodynamic data file, no harmonic, no discharge, nothing.. I just want to see an evolution in the coast of a port with time series.
I have looked for a long time about time series keywords or in test-cases but there is just information in the Hydrodynamic Module Use Guide and some in the wiki website. I have acted upon what is written in the wiki website but nothing happens, neither the velocity neither the water level moves.
Do you have other informations or examples or manual please?

Hi Livia,

Are you using the graphical user interface to edit the data files? You should not use it because it is not updated. In MOHID GUI go to Tools->Options->Data Files & Tools and select \"Text Editor\" in the \"Prefered Open Method\". Then all files are edited using a text editor (e.g. notepad).

First thing that solves your problem is that in your Hydrodynamic input data file you must activate the keyword :

TIDE : 1

Also in the same input file you should decrease the frequency of the outputs.

OUTPUT_TIME : 0 3600

Results every hour, or every half an hour should be OK.

Then to impose the tide (if you want to do it with a time series) for each gauge you define you need to have one time series file and not all time series in one file. I'll send you the corrected files.

You cannot have TIME_CYCLE : 1 and TIME_UNITS : SECONDS

Also the introduction of a keyword (in your case NAME) is not allowed in a time series file:

Are you sure that you want to impose a reference velocity in your gauge?

Hi,
I have Livia' same problem. I want force an area from Argentine' sea (without land boundary) with water level and velocity in several point around the four side boundaries, because that is the information i´ve got. I have data of water level and velocity for bottom, middle and sea surface, recorded each 30 seconds. So, I would like the model reproduce this information. Is it possible? I am doing wrong when add velocities in Tide coponents archive? What else can I do?

Hi Paula,

How many points do you have? Currently you can do it as you say for the tide, but not for the velocities (only for 2D applications). For 3D applications you'll have to generate a hdf5 file with an interpolated solution for you simulation domain and then impose it as a boundary condition.
