solar radiation

Postby guillaume@nfist.ist.utl.pt » Tue Nov 02, 2004 09:51

Hello,

It is now possible to see spatial variations of solar radiation. Just make sure that you give your bathymetry with (longitude, latitude) coordinates. This is required as the program calls the GetGridLatitudeLongitude routine in order to render the correct radiation.

You can see the preliminary results. The color scale units are W/m^2.

Notice How the declination of the sun is well represented as the seasons pass by.
As for the intensity variability, it varies as little as 3.3% along the year, so it is hardly noticeable.

We still need to implement an option that allows us to choose another time referencial besides GMT (= UTC).

Cheers,
Guillaume
