Problem in making tidal components

Postby hammo_azab@yahoo.com » Thu Feb 16, 2012 09:07

I have a tidal data but I can't use it to make tidal components to use it as an input in MOHID GUI , I have FES2004 but I can't use it to make tidal components based on my tidal data >>>>>>Please help me.

Hi,
is your data a time serie elevation? Case yes, you should
use a program that performs a Fourier harmonic analysis,
as T_Tide to get your tidal harmonics... I think it is possible
to define as OBC the time serie too, but I never tried it.

To use the Fes2004 solution the mohid wiki has a suitable
page that show step by step how to use it.

Leonardo.

The fes2004 page on mohid wiki is located at

Thank u Leonardo for your help.....but FES2004 page on MOHID Wiki doesn't contain anything about tidal data input , it says that the input must be x,y data only......I tried this page before and it was useless to me about (my tidal data input) but it is surly useful to the beginner of FES2004 that does'nt use special tidal input like me :(
but about T-tide that you suggested , I did not use it before but i will try download and work on it.

Can you send me a link to dwnload this software ????

thanks for your attention,,,,,,,

Hi,
yes, the FES2004 package provided by the MOHID only extract the tidal
harmonics in a defined location from the FES2004 solution. The FES2004
doesn't performs the Fourier harmonic analysis with the elevation time
serie.
To do this, as I told you should use the T_Tide package. You can find it
on the Rich Pawlowicz's web page on this link:

http://www.eos.ubc.ca/~rich/#T_Tide

In this page you'll find more information about the T_Tide and how to
use it.

Hi,

IF you already have the tidal data (sea level data) and you want to impose this to the model you can do it directly without having to convert it to harmonic components. Please take a look at this post for example:

http://www.mohid.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1025

Hope this helps,
Luis
