Convert2NetCDF: Access Violation

Postby Jauch » Mon Jun 14, 2010 11:22

Hi!

I compiled Net2CDF (using a MohidNumerics project as base).
The input data file is as next:

HDF_FILE : HDF5Data.hdf5
HDF_SIZE_GROUP : /Grid
HDF_SIZE_DATASET : MapingPoints
HDF_TIME_VAR : Time
HDF_READ_LATLON : 1
HDF_READ_SIGMA : 0
CONVERT_EVERYTHING : 0
<begin_groups>
/Results/leaf area index
<end_groups>
NETCDF_FILE : NetCDFExample.nc
NETCDF_TITLE : project YYYYMMDD model property
NETCDF_CONVENTION : CF-1.0
NETCDF_VERSION : 3.6.1
NETCDF_HISTORY : Once upon a time, in a country far, far away...
NETCDF_SOURCE : Convert2NetCDF
NETCDF_INSTITUTION : Instituto Superior Técnico (IST)
NETCDF_REFERENCES : Check http://www.mohid.com/
NETCDF_DATE : 2010

But when I try to run the executable, I got this error:

Constructing Convert2netcdf
Please Wait...

Opened hdf5 file : HDF5Data.hdf5
forrtl: severe (157): Program Exception - access violation
Image PC Routine Line Source
Convert2NetCDF.ex 0044CC26 Unknown Unknown Unknown
Convert2NetCDF.ex 00405AEA Unknown Unknown Unknown
Convert2NetCDF.ex 005198E3 Unknown Unknown Unknown
Convert2NetCDF.ex 004FBDE9 Unknown Unknown Unknown
kernel32.dll 7C817077 Unknown Unknown Unknown

I wasn't able (yet) to set the traceback properly in the project (still working on it).

The HDF was \"created\" using the same code that create the HDF's on the MOHIDLand and apparently is everithing \"ok\", because I can load it (a box extracted with HDF5Extractor) into the Mohid Postprocessor and can see the HDF using the HDFView...

Anyone has any Ideas?

The purpose is to be able to see a really large HDF in ArcGIS, because memory limitations on 32 bits machine with the Mohid tools that causes the Postprocessor to \"close\" without warning with the original file (grid of 1700x3500).

The ArcGIS can load only HDF4 (this is what was told to me) but think that can read NetCDF...

If you have any suggestion to be able to work with this file, I'll appreciate...

Thanks!

Hi again...

Debuging I found that the error happens in the line 178 of the MODULENetCDF.F90 file:

STAT_CALL = nf90_create(path=trim(FileName), cmode = NF90_CLOBBER , ncid = Me%ncid)

The value of trim(FileName) is 'NetCDFExample.nc' and the value of Me%ncid is 0 (zero)

I hope this can help...

Hi Eduardo,

The netcdf libs present in the solution are not compliant. Paulo Chambel is updating these libs. Stay tune for updates on codeplex in the next minutes, ans everything will work fine.
Cheers,
Luis
