Hello,
I've just installed MODHID 4.9.2 on WINDOWS 7 64 bits.
I can't read my .xyz file to create the bathymetric grid. i got the "invalid xyz file format" error .
I did read the Wiki page about the format of XYZ files (http://www.mohid.com/wiki/index.php?title=XYZ_Points) but it's still not working.
I also tried to download a xyz bathymetric file from ETOPO website and added the header and ending lines (<begin_xyz> and <end_yxz>) but GIS tell me it's an invalid format.
I checked that decimal separator is the point.
Does the blanks between the columns matter ? does the numbers of decimal matter ?
Could anyone help me please or send me a sample of an xyz file ??
Thank you
Matthieu

Re: Problem to read xyz file in GIS
It seems that i have a problem with GIS. I tried to read an xyz file that i downloaded from MOHID website (fresh water cylinder test case) and it doesn't work.
Does anyone have some issues with GIS on windows 7 64 bits ?

Hello Mathieu
I have Mohid 4.9.2 installed on W7 64 bits and I had never had that problem.
But I suffered some unexplicable problems at the beginning. It was because I hadn't followed the correct installation sequence.
Have you installed Net framework in the version required by Mohid? And Office web components? Check it, please.
Best regards
Ana

Re: Problem to read xyz file in GIS
Dear all,
in MOHID GIS you need decimal separator be set to a "." (your case) and no digit grouping symbol (confirm).
Number of decimals don't play a role.
The three columns should be separated by blank spaces (no TABS).
Example:
<begin_xyz>
0.0 500.0 1.0
0.0 100.0 1.2
500.0 1000.0 2.3
...
<end_xyz>
Did you tried to read the file with MOHID Studio? It works well on Windows 7 / 64 bits. With MOHID Studio you don't have to care about the "." setting.
Best regards,
Frank
